COURSE
The course follows a loop of approximately 2.3 km, starting at Heinz-Steyer-Stadion and running along the banks of the River Elbe towards the city centre. After a turnaround point at the Semper Opera House, the route continues past the State Parliament (Landtag) and returns via Devrientstraße back to the stadium.

The Dresden City Loop
A new and challenging course awaits both elite athletes and spectators against the stunning backdrop of Dresden. The start and finish area is located inside the Heinz-Steyer Stadium. From there, the athletes pass the grandstands and spectators once again before heading towards the Marathon Gate.
This year, the course runs in the opposite direction, initially following the River Elbe towards the city centre. Along the way, athletes must conquer the ramp of the so-called “HAIX Safety Corner” near the State Parliament. After a turnaround point close to Theatre Square and the Semper Opera House, the route continues past the Saxon State Parliament, the International Congress Center and along Devrientstraße before returning towards the Marathon Gate. From there, the athletes re-enter the stadium and race towards the finish line.
But the course is only part of the experience. The real goosebump moments await around the original 50-metre small-bore shooting range, which is specially constructed inside the Heinz-Steyer Stadium for this event. Here, spectators and athletes alike can feel the unique atmosphere up close and experience the stars of winter sports at close range.
Watching the race along the course is free of charge for all spectators. Prime spectator areas include the Biathlon Village directly in front of the Marathon Gate of the Heinz-Steyer Stadium (including a video wall), the Semper Opera House/Theatre Square area (also featuring a video wall) at the turnaround point known as the M4Energy Corner, and the area by the State Parliament, where spectators can enjoy the race from beneath the shade of the trees overlooking the River Elbe and its scenic riverbanks.
