COMPETITION MODE

The rules at the City Biathlon

Both men and women complete a qualifying race over three laps as well as a final. The races are held as a mass start, and in the finals with minor advantages for the best placed from qualifying races. The starting fields each consist of nine world class biathletes. The athletes complete the tournaments on ski rollers on an approx. 1.6 km long circuit course through the inner city of Wiesbaden. Start / finish is located on Wilhelmstraße directly opposite the Kurhaus, and the shooting range on the bowling green. The athletes are provided with three reload cartridges per shooting event. If the athlete misses one or more targets despite the eight cartridges at his/her disposal, then the athlete must spend a penalty time of ten seconds per shooting error in the so-called “penalty box”.
