Event is now scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 27
The Government has decided and confirmed that no major events may take place until 31 August. This includes the City Biathlon Wiesbaden, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, August 16. Standing together on the grandstand and cheering on the athletes is not possible and not reasonable under the current circumstances.
For this reason, the organisers, together with the main project partners, have decided to postpone the event until autumn. The new event date is Sunday, September 27 – if the Corona pandemic then allows events of this kind.
"We are happy about the good and smooth cooperation with the city authorities, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the ski associations and the TV stations as well as with our sponsors. Having strong partners at our side during this time helps us in our organisation around the event," says Ralf Niedermeier, Managing Director of the organising agency n plus sport GmbH. With the government's guidelines, the preparations for the new date of the event can now be initiated. Although uncertainty still plays a part and the implementation of the project is anything but certain, it is worth a try.
"The decision on how to proceed is certainly not an easy one. The health and well-being of our visitors, athletes and the organising team is without doubt our top priority. We hope that the change of date will allow us to hold the event in autumn and we will have to wait and see how things develop over the next few weeks and months" Ralf Niedermeier continues.
Despite the postponement of the event, many things should remain the same: Biathlon fans can look forward to an exciting race through the city centre and sharp shots at the shooting range at Bowling Green. Possibly necessary concept adjustments, such as a redesign of the supporting programme, changes to the spectator areas and additional hygiene measures are currently being planned. Already purchased tickets remain valid for the new event date. Should you have any questions, please contact the organizer at email@example.com.
